What is a vector database?
A vector database stores numeric representations of text (embeddings) so a system can find similar passages at query time. In RAG, that retrieval step is what grounds the language model.
The brand of database is rarely the decision that makes a product honest. Chunking, access rights, evaluation, and showing sources matter more. RAG architecture · RAG development
